The theatre family Ekdahl is leading a bohemian life in the beginning of the 1900s. The feasts are celebrated together with the servants and everybody is enjoying life. But the sudden death of the eldest son Oscar changes everything. The children Fanny and Alexander are thrown into a harsh new life when their mother decides to remarry with the bishop Edvard Vergérus; no more toys, no more relatives. To escape the hard punishments Alexander flees to an imaginary world, leading to more problems for everyone.
Ingmar Bergmans movie from 1982 portrays a dreamland where the living and spirits moves freely over the border between life and death. Fanny and Alexander had its premiere at Svenska Teatern 15.09.2010. The first Finnish language version was played at Tampereen Työväenteatteri in the end of 2010 and In January 2012 the play premiered in Seinäjoki.
